Ecology: summary

Ecology can be divided into bodily processes, food webs and nutrient cycles. Nutrient cycles can further be divided into the Nitrogen cycle and the Carbon cycle. The nutrient cycles are basically cycles in which Nitrogen and carbon are recycled in different forms such as in photosynthesis and denitrifying bacteria. Food webs were taught in primary school, and hence, I feel that this topic was redundant, and more time should be spent on other topics, such as bodily processes. There were too few lessons on bodily processes, although we learnt useful information, such as the reason why food chains cannot be too long.
Overall, I felt that this was the least interesting of the three terms as it was very dry.
The test, like the one in term 2, was easy enough for many of the students to score well, but some questions will required some thinking.

Sexual Reproduction: summary

In Sexual Reproduction, we learnt about the different anatomies of the male and female reproductive systems, and also the differences between the gametes, and also the different functions of the post-ferilisation organs, and facilited reproduction. I also learnt of the different methods of contraception, and the effects of abortion and sexually transmitted diseases.
The topic is deeper than what was taught in primary school.
Overall, I feel that this term was moderately interesting. However, most of the time, there were irrelevent comments and hence, lessons sometimes became very noisy.
The test was relatively easy, though there were some questions that were tricky and required careful thought before answering.

Acids and Bases: summary

Acids and Bases can be separated into equation writing, chemical bonding, the periodic table and chemical reactions. Equation writing is closely related to the periodic table and chemical bonding because understanding of the periodic table is required to write equations. It was also an intersting topic because it required some brainwork to work out individual reactions by classifying it accouding to the different types of chemical reaction, followed by writing the equation based on each individual chemical and their quantities per equation.
Acids and bases is one of the most interesting and useful topics I have gone through. I have learnt about the five main reactions of chemicals, PH level, and some useful common uses of chemicals, and the different bonds between chemicals.
Although there were very few lab lessons, the lab lessons were generally quite fun and we learnt more about the reasons certain chemicals or metals are used for certain purposes.
Overall, I felt that this was the most interesting term of the year, partly because of my interest in chemistry.
The difficulty of the term test on this topic was just right. We had a balance of challenging questions and easy questions.
